What is SOC 2 compliance and why does it matter?
SOC 2 compliance is part of the American Institute of CPAs’ Service Organization Control reporting platform. Its intent is to ensure the safety and privacy of your customers’ data. It outlines five trust service principles of security, availability, processing integrity, confidentiality, and privacy of customer data as a framework for safeguarding data.
SOC 2 is a framework applicable to all technology service or SaaS companies that store customer data in the cloud to ensure that organizational controls and practices effectively safeguard the privacy and security of customer data.
For us, delivering on the SOC 2 compliance is an important part of our ongoing commitment to our current and future customers on their data privacy and security.
What is the difference between SOC 2 Type I and Type II?
Service Organization Control 2 (SOC 2) was created by the Association of International Certified Professional Accountants (AICPA) and defines how software-as-a-service organizations should manage user data. SOC 2 compliance consists of two different types: Type I and Type II. Companies with a Type I certificate have proven that they have appropriate security protocols and practices at a single point in time. After proving that they are maintaining those controls over a long (multi-month) period, companies are eligible to receive their Type II certification.
ennabl achieved its SOC 2 Type II compliance certificate after successfully completing a security audit conducted by an outside third-party auditor, the Johanson Group. ennabl security controls have remained effective over the last several months, earning ennabl the Type II compliance certificate.
What does this mean for ennabl customers?
Since it was founded, ennabl has made the security and protection of our clients’ data our central priority. This SOC 2 Type II certification is an external verification of those principles and practices. ennabl will continue to dedicate substantial resources to protecting our clients’ data and investing in best-in-class tools and practices to make sure that every piece of data we manage is secure and remains confidential.
